Diamond ShapesThere are many different shapes of diamond. Round is the most popular and most expensive. All other shapes are classed as fancy shape diamonds and are usually not as expensive as round diamonds.
MetalAt Rage Stones we offer Platinum 950, 18ct White and Yellow Gold. Although Platinum is the most popular metal it is almost double the price of gold.Diamond Carat WeightDiamonds are weighed in carats. So the bigger the carat weight the bigger and more expensive the diamond. A carat is further subdivided in 100 points ( 0.01 carat = l point ). One carat is equal to 0.20 grams.Diamond ClarityDiamonds have internal features, called inclusions, and surface irregularities, called blemishes. Together, they're called clarity characteristics. A clarity grade is determined by the relative absence of clarity characteristics. The Number, type, colour, size and position of these inclusions can affect the value of a diamond. However, many can only be seen by experts using a 10-power magnification loope, the tiniest inclusions can be very difficult to find.
Diamond ColourThe best colour for a diamond is no colour. Diamonds are graded through an alphabet system starting from D right down to Z. Higher up the alphabet towards D the more valuable the diamond is. The difference between one grade and another is very subtle.Colours D, E and F are essentially without colour and differ more in transparency. Colours G, H, I and sometimes J, will usually show little or no colour in the face-up position (as set in jewellery) for most diamond shapes. Diamond Proportions and SymmetryHow a diamond is cut (its proportions and symmetry) is very important. The cut determines the diamonds brilliance, the better a diamond is cut the more it sparkles. Rage Stones offers three options in this area. Good, Very Good and Excellent, it is our suggestion that any stone over 1.00ct should have very good or excellent symmetry.Diamond CertificatesAll the diamonds over 0.29ct on our website come with a diamond certificate. This certificate is from an independent internationally recognised diamond laboratory. For these certificates we mainly use GIA and HRD. With some of our smaller diamonds we use IGI and EGL.To get more information on which diamond certificate you would receive with your diamond just click here.
